About
Scholars provides one-to-one academic tutoring and university admissions support — from I/GCSE and A Level through to personal statements, admissions tests, and interview preparation for Oxford, Cambridge, and leading UK universities.
Almira Sohail
Almira Sohail studied Engineering at the University of Cambridge and is currently pursuing Medicine there. Alongside this, she achieved 5 A*s at A Level in Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry, as well as 100% in her EPQ — reflecting both academic breadth and depth at the highest level.
Having progressed through some of the most demanding academic pathways, she recognised a fundamental gap in traditional education: the difference between learning to pass exams and learning to think with clarity, precision, and independence. At Cambridge, success is defined not by memorisation, but by the ability to reason under pressure, articulate complex ideas, and engage critically — particularly in the interview setting.
Almira has extensive experience tutoring GCSE and A Level students, with a focus on developing genuine understanding rather than rote learning. Her teaching follows a Socratic approach, guiding students through structured questioning to build confidence, deepen insight, and develop the intellectual independence required for top university admissions.
Scholars was founded to bring this standard of thinking and preparation to students earlier in their academic journey. The organisation works with families across the UK, Middle East, and Asia, where students follow British and international curricula while aiming for the UK's most competitive universities — an environment in which exceptional grades alone are no longer sufficient.
How we work
01
Socratic tutoring
We teach through questioning, not lecturing. Students are guided to reason through problems themselves — building the independent thinking that Oxbridge interviews and top university admissions demand.
02
Application-led strategy
Academic preparation and admissions planning are treated as one. We map the full pathway — examinations, personal statement, tests, and interviews — and build each student's programme around where they are and where they are heading.
03
Honest about what it takes
We are direct about what is achievable and what the work requires. Students and families always know where they stand — and we hold students to the standard their goals demand.
